Ege'nin Koyları

The most extraordinary, most "alien planet" looking volcanic statue of Marmaris Hisaronu Bay, which fascinates everyone even though it has no sandy beach: Dislice Island (Toothy Island).

It is very different from "beach" focused places like Sedir Island or Suluada on your list. This is a labyrinth formed by orange-yellow rocks rising in the middle of the sea. When describing the Hisaronu route to Limancepte.com guests with Marmaris boat rental, this is the stop we call "The place where you will explore inside the sea rather than just swimming".

Here is what you need to know about this desolate and wild island of Marmaris:

1. Why is it Called "Dislice" (Toothy)?

When you approach the island, you immediately understand the reason for its name.
Appearance: The surface of the island is covered with pointed, indented, and layered volcanic rocks resembling a dragon's teeth.
Volcanic Sculpture: This place is not lush green like a classic Aegean island; it consists of steep rocks in orange and yellow tones resembling the surface of Mars. This wild image creates an incredible contrast with the turquoise water.

2. No Beach, Just a Labyrinth

There is no sandy strip on Dislice Island to spread your towel.
Experience: Your boat anchors in a sheltered recess between the rocks. You enter the sea and swim among the giant rocks rising from the water.
Exploration: The biggest fun of the island is to enter between these rocks and discover the secret tunnels and natural steps passing to the back of the island from the sea.

3. Why is it Called "Love Island"?

It is also called "Love Island" among the locals. The structure of the rocks is so complex that when you enter the island, you find tiny "private pools" completely isolated from the outside world. Also, the rocks turning crimson at sunset gives the island a romantic identity.

4. Clarity of the Sea and Underwater

Since there is no sand on the ground, the water does not get muddy. The water is so clear that you can see 15-20 meters depth like glass. The continuation of the rocks underwater creates great homes for fish.

5. How to Get There?

Dislice Island is right in the middle of Hisaronu Bay, between Bencik Bay and Selimiye. Boats departing from Selimiye, Orhaniye (Kizkumu), or Datca-Aktur definitely stop here.

⚠️ Important Tip: Sea Shoes
Since the rocks are volcanic, the surface is rough and non-slip, easy to climb. However, they can be sharp. If you are going to climb on the island and watch the view, it is definitely recommended to wear sea shoes.
