Oludeniz offers a maritime experience very different from the calm bay structure of Gocek or the sunken history of Kas. This is a place where "vertical geography" reigns, and the sea meets the mountains in the most dramatic way.
As Limancepte.com, with our 10 years of regional experience, we can clearly say this: To charter a private boat in Oludeniz is not to enter that famous postcard frame (Kumburnu Beach and Lagoon), but to discover the wild beauty beyond it. Since the inside of the lagoon is shallow and under protection, large boats do not enter here; the real adventure begins the moment you sail from Belcekiz Beach.
Here are 5 strategic points you must anchor at on this route under the shadow of paragliders gliding at the foot of Babadag:
The first stop you will usually reach shortly after departing from Belcekiz Beach is the Blue Cave. It takes its name from the phosphorescent blue color created by sunlight reflecting from under the water inside the cave.
Experience: This is actually a visual "photo stop" rather than a swimming break. If the boat you rented is small, it can enter the cave. If you rented a large gulet, your captain stops at the point closest to the cave mouth and you swim into this light feast. Morning hours are important to catch the moment when the light is most impressive.
This is undoubtedly the star of the Oludeniz route. The feeling you will feel as your boat approaches this valley, which is stuck between two huge mountains and accessible only by sea, will be "awe".
What to Do? Your boat approaches the beach, you jump into the sea and swim to the shore. You can take a short walk into the valley or just feel your smallness swimming between those huge rock walls. Being here in the early morning hours, before the crowded daily tour boats arrive, is the right time to feel the spirit of the valley.
After the dramatic structure of Butterfly Valley, Aquarium Bay is a calm and clear stop like its name. It is an area where the sea floor can be clearly seen and is relatively sheltered from the wind among the rocks. It is one of the places where the fish population in the region is dense. If you have sea goggles and a snorkel with you, it is the most suitable point of the route to take a short discovery tour around the boat.
When you proceed towards the east side of the route, to the back shores of Kayakoy, you come across St. Nicholas (Gemiler) Island, which was an important religious center in the Byzantine period.
Feature: There are 4 different church ruins on the island and a tunnel road connecting them. When your boat docks, you can go ashore and take a short walk among these historical ruins. Due to its location, the island is one of the most beautiful sunset spots in the Oludeniz region.
Located on the mainland just opposite Gemiler Island, this bay takes its name from a geological phenomenon. Cold fresh water sources coming from the mountains come to the surface from under the sea here.
Effect: When you jump into the sea on a hot August day, you notice that the surface of the water is warm, but 1-2 meters below is freezing. This creates a natural shock pool effect for your body and is incredibly refreshing.
