Where is Suluada? Boat trips from Adrasan

Ege'nin Koyları

Standing alone opposite the Adrasan coast in the west of Antalya, with its volcanic structure and snow-white beach, the biggest tourism phenomenon of recent years: Suluada.

It is undisputedly the number 1 target of Antalya yacht charter and Adrasan tours for Limancepte guests. 90% of those phosphorescent turquoise waters shared on social media with the tag "Turkey's Maldives" belong here.

Here is what you need to know about this exotic island of Antalya to enjoy it without getting mixed with the crowd:

1. Why is it Called "Maldives"? (Secret of Color)

What distinguishes Suluada from other Mediterranean islands is its geological structure.
White Rocks: The rocky structure of the island contains calcium carbonate and is white. The beach formed by the crumbling of these rocks over time is also snow-white.
Neon Turquoise: Since the white ground reflects the sunlight back, the color of the water becomes not dark blue, but a phosphorescent, light turquoise. This image rivals tropical ocean islands.

2. Where Does the Island's Name Come From?

As the name suggests ("Watery Island"); fresh water comes out from the heart of this arid-looking island. There is an ice-cold fresh water source filtering through the rocks on the island. Sailors have used this place for water supply for centuries. It is believed that the water is good for kidney stones.

3. Two Beaches and "Love Cave"

  • Front Beach (Main Beach): The most popular place where the sand is the whitest and the water color is the lightest. It is usually the most crowded.
  • Back Beach: It is on the other side of the island, stonier but the water is like "glass". Usually calmer.
  • Love Cave: At the tip of the island, there is a tunnel cave where you can swim under and over the water. The boat approaches the cave, you pass to the other side by swimming.

4. How to Get to Suluada?

There is no land access to Suluada. It is reached by a journey of about 45 minutes with daily tour boats departing from Adrasan coast.

⚠️ Critical Warning: Crowd Management
Suluada can be very crowded at noon in high season (July-August).
Limancepte Tip: If you want to take that "Maldives" photo without the crowd; rent a private boat and go to the island very early in the morning (before 09:00) or in the late afternoon (after 16:30).

Suluada FAQ

  • Are there facilities on the island?
No. The island is completely pristine. There are no structures, restaurants, toilets, or showers. You must meet your needs on the boat.
  • Can I camp?
Camping and lighting fires are prohibited as it is a protected area. Also not recommended due to safety reasons.
  • Is the sea deep?
It gets deep a few meters after entering from the shore. The water is so clear you don't realize the depth, non-swimmers should be careful.
  • Is the beach sandy or stony?
Although it looks like white flour sand from afar, it is actually white pebbles the size of rice grains. It doesn't stick to feet, doesn't muddy the water.
