When you look at the sea from those famous steep streets of Kas, that special "opposite shore" you see right across but cannot go by car: Limanagzi.

When describing Kas boat charter options to Limancepte.com guests, we say; "This is the backyard of Kas, there is no noise, only nature and history". It is not crowded like the Little Pebble or Big Pebble beaches in Kas center. Although on the mainland, it offers an island life experience.

Here is what you need to know about this stop of Kas with the most enjoyable transportation, clearest water, and abundant history:

1. Transportation Culture: What are "Piyade" Boats?

The biggest event of Limanagzi is the mode of transportation. There is no vehicle road here from land (only a path).
Piyade: Small wooden boats operated by the cooperative in Kas harbor are called "Piyade". These are the sea taxis of Kas.
System: Starts around 09:00 in the morning, departs every 15-20 minutes when full. It drops you off at the opposite shore with a pleasant 15-minute sea journey. You shouldn't miss the last boat time on the return in the evening (Usually around 19:00 - 20:00).

2. Watching History While Swimming: Lycian Rock Tombs

When you enter the sea in Limanagzi and lie on your back looking at the slope, you see Lycian Rock Tombs carved into the rocks dating back to the 4th century BC. There are very few places in the world where you can see ancient tombs while swimming. These tombs belong to the nobles of "Antiphellos", the old name of Kas.

3. "Living Room" of Caretta Carettas
If you want to see Caretta Caretta turtles in Kas, this is the highest probability (90%).
Since Limanagzi is closed to the wind and has a rich seabed, it is the feeding ground for turtles. It is only a matter of time before you see a giant Caretta gliding beneath you while snorkeling.

4. How is the Sea? (Is it Cold?)

Kas water is generally cool (due to spring waters), and Limanagzi gets its share of this.

  • Water Temperature: Not as warm as Antalya center, it is refreshing.
  • Clarity: Since it is a waveless and closed bay, the water is like "glass". Visibility reaches 20-30 meters. Entering without sea goggles is a great loss as it is like an aquarium.

5. Are There Facilities?

Yes. There are 3-4 large "Beach Club" / Restaurant style businesses lined up side by side in Limanagzi (Bilal's Place, Nuri's Place etc. are famous). The Piyade boat drops you off at the pier of these businesses. Sunbeds and umbrellas are usually subject to a spending limit or fee. You can spend the whole day here eating and drinking.

Limanagzi FAQ

  • Can you go by walking?
Yes. You can reach Limanagzi with a 45-minute - 1-hour walk following the Lycian Way path starting from Big Pebble Beach. The road is rocky and difficult in summer heat.
  • Can we stay overnight?
Some businesses have bungalow-style accommodation. When the last boat leaves at night, only business owners and bungalow guests remain in the bay, creating complete silence.
  • Is the sea deep?
Places entered from the shore are shallow, but since people jump from the pier, usually deep water is entered. The shore part is suitable for children.
  • How long does it take from Kas center?
It takes 15-20 minutes with the Piyade boat.
